Group Work

As part of my private practice I sometimes run therapy groups. At present, I am focusing on running process groups and training groups for other psychotherapists in order to help boost the profile of group therapy in Toronto and Ontario. It is my hope that, by offering these opportunities to therapists, more therapy groups for clients will be offered to the community. Groups are in demand and clearly much needed.

An archive of groups that I have offered can be found at my associated site:

Relational Process Group for Therapists

Since 2021, I have run online, weekly, time-limited relational process groups for therapists with an existential lens. The groups have mainly been seasonal, running through autumn, winter and early spring, from October to March or April.

There has been a rotating membership, with each group containing a mix of new and returning members. The original groups were born of the changes and challenges we all experienced in the COVID pandemic. Therapists needed a place to reflect and take stock, together, of where they were in themselves, emerging from pandemic lockdown. For the original group description, please visit here.

The groups have provided a supportive space for therapists who want to dig in to their own personal process and to learn and grow from the interpersonal space of the here-and-now. Group members explore together their own personal histories, experiences of aging and mortality, and how their emotional landscapes are shaped by the world and their work as therapists. The groups have invited members to be vulnerable, curious, self-reflective and immersed in the power of the present moment.

This process group is on hold for the 2024/2025 year while I focus on running the group therapy training groups listed above. Process will resume in October 2025. Please inquire for details or if you’d like to be on the waiting list for a future group.

I have 16 years of experience in co-facilitating teaching and process groups as a faculty member at the Toronto Institute for Relational Psychotherapy (TIRP).

I have run professional education and process groups for psychotherapists in my private practice since 2015.

I am a graduate of the Center for Group Studies (CGS) in New York City, where, in 2020, I completed the Certificate in Group Leadership training program in a Modern Analytic group therapy approach. I have studied and trained at CGS from 2011 to the present day, ongoing.

I also participate in training and education through the American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA) and other professional psychotherapy bodies, including Toronto Institute of Group Studies (TIGS).
